His father, Zelman A. Green was born in Cayuga County, NY. He was associated with the Masons. Mr. Green was the victim of a terrible railway disaster at Chatsworth in 1887 when he was instantly killed on his way to Niagara Falls. His wife died 14 years before. Their children were: George Mrs. Dora Hogue who occupies part of the old homestead Louise, who married James Hudson of McDonough Co. IL Mary, who is the wife of Jeremiah Hooding of Michigan. George resides on the old homestead of 160 acres. He married on 9 Feb 1866 to Matilda Johnson of Wooster, OH. She is the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Ruhl) Johnson, who married in Wooster, Wayne Co OH. After the death of Mr. Johnson, Elizabeth married Samuel Cook. There were two children by the first marriage: Matilda and William.
